The town of Las Jarretaderas is located in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas (in the state of Nayarit). There are 6262 inhabitants. The Jarretaderas is 10 metres above sea level.
Jarretaderas is a community that was formed mainly by farmers, farmers and fishermen
Who initially was located in the area of now Nuevo Vallarta, then known as "El Papayal"

Diferentes familias llegaron a la comunidad en la década de los 20´s y 30´s, en un principio la comunidad se formo en "Corral Solo" en aquel entonces se ubicaba por el camino viejo a valle de banderas, del lado al cerro de la carretera! a bordo del río ameca, no muy lejos de la actual ubicación de Jarretaderas.
En sus principios en Corral Solo, familias como la de Don Pedro Barbas, Padilla, Medina, Peñas, entre otras... fueron de las primeras en llegar a esta zona de bahía, fue a principios de los años 30´s cuando llego la primera primaria a la comunidad ubicándola en un principio en lo que ahora se conoce como la plaza principal, frente a la casa de Don Avelino Padilla, dentro de un lote baldío! debido a distintos problemas de ubicación la primaria se estuvo moviendo de lugar... para finalmente ubicarla en un lote baldío donado en aquel entonces por los mismos pobladores! en lo que ahora se conoce como el Ejido de Jarretaderas.

In its beginnings in Corral Solo, families such as Pedro Barbas, Padilla, Medina, Peñas, among others ... were among the first to reach this bay area, it was in the early 30's when the first primary to the community, locating it at first in what is now known as the main square, in front of the house of Don Avelino Padilla, inside a vacant lot! due to different problems of location the primary was moving of place ... to finally locate it in a vacant lot donated at that time by the same settlers! in what is now known as the Ejido de Jarretaderas.
